Maison Ruinart was founded in 1729 as the first champagne house ever. Its creation was the result of the intuition of a monk, Dom Thierry Ruinart (1657-1709), who was far ahead of his time. The Chardonnay grape variety is of fundamental importance to Maison Ruinart. The grapes come predominantly from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. The history of Ruinart Rosé, the very first rosé champagne, dates back to the 18th century. While Ruinart Rosé Champagne first appeared on the market more than 250 years ago, its outstanding quality remains the essential characteristic of the production of this delicate wine to this day. Its special feature lies in the unique balance of the blend of Chardonnay, Ruinart's signature grape variety, and Pinot Noir, which is vinified as a red wine. The Ruinart Rosé owes its elegant sensuality to the blend of Chardonnay (45% Premiers Crus Chardonnay predominantly from the Côte des Blancs) and Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and the Marne Valley, which is made into red wine.
